What is the Global Talent Visa?

The Global Talent Visa category is for individuals who are industry leaders or potential leaders in the academia and research, arts and culture or digital technology fields.

Depending on the endorsement the applicant receives, the route can be 3-years or 5-years. The applicant is granted a 5-year visa regardless, with which they can work without restrictions in any capacity except as a professional sportsperson. If required, the applicants may also extend for up to 5 years, depending on how long they wish to extend.

Applicants are also permitted to bring their partners and children during this period.

This visa category requires an endorsement from an approved endorsement body. What the endorsement bodies require depends on the sub-category the applicant applies under and whether the application is for an endorsement as a “leader or “potential leader” in their specific field.

Usually, the endorsing bodies of arts and culture and digital technology fields will require a strong portfolio, national and international recognition, industry contribution and outstanding success in your field.

In academia and research field, the endorsement process relies on the academic and research position job offers, grants, individual fellowship and eligible awards. If not available, it is possible to apply relying on a peer-review on your eligibility and expertise.

Individuals who are recipients of certain awards may be exempt from the endorsement process altogether.

Albeit it is technically a visa under the Point-Based System and thus, requires 70 points to be eligible; a valid endorsement or an award will grant you those 70 points.
