TIER 5 VISA TYPES

Tier 5 (Charity Worker)


This category applies to non-EU individuals who are coming to the UK to perform voluntary and unpaid work for a charity. Under this visa, successful applicants may stay in the UK for the shorter of a period of 12 months or the time specified in the certificate of sponsorship plus 28 days.

Tier 5 (Creative and Sporting)


This category applies to non-EU individuals who want to live in the UK as sportspeople (recognised at an international level), entertainers or creative artists. Under this visa, successful applicants may stay in the UK for a period of 12 months, and creative artists may be granted a further extension of 12 months.

Tier 5 (Government Authorised Exchange)


This category applies to non-EU individuals who are coming to the UK through approved programs designed to share knowledge and experience. Applicants cannot be coming to the UK to fill job vacancies and cannot be unskilled. Under this visa, successful applicants may stay in the UK for a period of 12 to 24 months.

Tier 5 (International Agreement)


This category applies to non-EU individuals who are coming to the UK under contract to perform work that is covered under international law. This includes applicants who are employees of overseas governments and international organisations, domestic servants in diplomatic households and applicants whose work falls under agreements between the UK and other countries. Under this visa, successful applicants may stay in the UK for the shorter of a period of 24 months or the time specified in the certificate of sponsorship plus 28 days. Extensions may be permitted, depending on the applicant’s situation.

Tier 5 (Religious Worker)


This category applies to non-EU individuals who are coming to the UK to work as a religious worker for a temporary period of time. Religious work includes preaching, pastoral work and work in a religious order which involves a permanent commitment in a community like a monastery or convent.

Tier 5 (Youth Mobility Scheme)


Under this category, young people from non-EU participating countries have the chance to enjoy a working holiday lifestyle in the UK for up to two years.
